Issues, Context and Concept Development
Students in my workbase are required to highlight issues that already reviewed and presented in the first and second project (background study and site analysis). In the design development stage, students are required to choose pertinent issues based on their understanding during first phase in this course. It is very important to connect between real issues on site (Gaza and its population) and the project brief (school design). By doing that, issues that was discovered in the background survey / research could be analysed in detail to be developed as their theme for their design intention and design generator.
11 students in my workbase now already chosed 11 themes to be explored and become their concept design. From there, they develop their ideas and design strategies.
Several meetings through table crits and open crits helps students to develop their design ideas based on individual themes responding to site forces, social needs, philosophical ideas, history, educational challenges, safety, security and environmental contactual.
