YOUTH CENTER FOR ACTIVITIES AND KNOWLEDGE DEVELOPMENT IN KG PERMATANG SEPAM BENUT PONTIAN JOHOR
Intention
The underlaying objective of this semester project for my workbase is to expose students to the real issues and scenarios of the traditional remote village livings. The opportunities and challenges faced by the villages particularly the youth are real and sometimes scary especially among elders and parents. Youths tend to leave the villages to look for better and attractive urban livings whereas, there are lots of opportunities to be explored and developed to lead to a prosperous living.
Location & surrounding
Traditional village with various jobs and activities are sources of income for living. Among the main crops planted by the villages are palm oil trees, bananas, pineapples, fruit and cash crops. Chicken coop industries, cottage industries and homestays are also villages activities.
Issues
Issues to be identified by students through visits, observations, short stays and interviews. Some key issues to be identified are:-
- Overall opportunities and challenges faces by the village communities for the village to be sustained as a traditional village and prosperous community livings.
- Youths profile and their current facilities and activities.
- Understanding village visions and hope for the next ten years focusing on youths.
Tasks
The main objective of the project is to design a youth center for activities and knowledge development appropriate for the enhancement of village livings. Apart from the background studies, activities and requirements sets for the SBEA2138 Senireka 3 common program, this workbase final design requirement of the building includes;
- Exhibition/small multipurpose room.
- Classrooms & workshop.
- Management office, security, services & storage.
- Other spaces to be identified as an important supporting requirement (indoor or outdoor).
